Anthem might have been the star of BioWare’s showing at EA’s E3 conference, but it’s not all that the studio are working on. The company’s general manager, Casey Hudson, says that the team are looking into a new Dragon Age game, as well as considering a return to Mass Effect.
BioWare are a company used to working on several releases at once, but in the past year they’ve been pretty quiet when it comes to anything that isn’t Anthem although it does continue to run Star Wars: The Old Republic). According to Hudson, however, fans shouldn’t be too worried by the radio silence.

In an interview with GameInformer, Hudson said that although “a majority of the people at BioWare are working on Anthem,” the team does “have people who are figuring out what a next Dragon Age would look like.” We do know that Dragon Age 4 is in development, but there’s little more to go on than that at this point.
More interestingly, however, when asked about Mass Effect, Hudson says that the studio could return to it. That’s a little more of a surprise; the most recent instalment in the series – Mass Effect: Andromeda – didn’t prove massively popular, meaning some fans feared the acquisition of BioWare by EA could spell trouble for the series.
As a founding member of the Mass Effect team, Hudson states, however, that the series is “my baby.” He also says “of course we intend to get back to it at some point.” So while you might be waiting a good long while for a new Mass Effect game, you can rest easy knowing that at the very least, BioWare want to make it.
