- For the rest of Spring Split, the games will be played on the latest patch, 8.5
- The patch included big changes for junglers including buffs to Olaf and Rengar
- It was also the patch Kai’Sa was enabled but we won’t see her in pro play just yet
Time flies fast as the LCS Spring Split is quickly coming to a close. This week is the last week of group stages before the playoffs kick off.
The rest of the Split will be played on the most recently released patch, 8.5, which brought around a lot of big changes.
The biggest change of all was the release of new ADC Kai’Sa who features a uniquely aggressive kit. Players are still trying to get used to her tricky kit and we will have to wait until MSI at least before we can see what she’s capable of in pro play.
New LoL champion Kai’Sa will be disabled for the NA and EU LCS’s week nine and playoffs
EU LCS caster Vedius revealed on his Twitter that Kai’Sa will be disabled for all of week nine and playoffs in the LCS. Considering the champion has only been out for less than a week and she currently has a low win-rate, it was unlikely we would see her in any case.
However, players not being used to playing against her could have given a team an advantage and it appears some pros, like Misfits’ Hans Sama, were disappointed to see her disabled.
Still, patch 8.5 adds a lot of exciting changes to the mix too. A lot of junglers have been buffed including Rengar and Nocturne, the latter of whom we haven’t seen in pro play since Gigabyte Marine’s cheese strategy at Worlds.
Olaf was also buffed despite already seeing some play in the LCS – this could be great news for CLG’s playoff hopes considering it’s one of Reignover’s best picks. There were also significant buffs to Cloud Drake’s buff and a needed nerf to Banner of Command.
