- In previous years, the FIFA FUT Birthday event has kicked off some time in March
- There’s always a FUT Birthday squad filled with players popular in older games
- There will probably also be special Squad Builder Challenges and free packs
FIFA Ultimate Team was first introduced in March 2009, and it turned out to be the biggest game changer in the history of the franchise.
Nowadays, it’s the most popular mode by far, is used in esports, and thanks to the virtual currency which can be used to purchase packs of new players, it’s incredibly profitable for EA Sports.
Every year around this time people start preparing for the FUT Birthday celebration, which can grant all kinds of rewards to loyal players.
An example of a previous FUT Birthday squad included the likes of Fernando Torres and Eto’o
In previous years, players have received free card packs when they login to the game, and playing during the event has earned them other things like special kits.
It looks like we already know what this year’s FUT Birthday kit will look like, as a number of promo kits were apparently leaked last month.
We can also expect more Squad Builder Challenges to make an appearance this year, as they’ve proved popular since their introduction.
The FUT Birthday usually lasts for a week or so, so there will likely be daily SBCs of varying quality. Last year, the more you completed, the better your reward at the end.
In addition, EA Sports always releases a FUT Birthday squad, which contains current players who were popular in previous versions of the game.
They’ll have a brand new item type, and they’ll receive upgrades reminiscent of their ratings back when they were popular.
A few of the favourites are even likely to get some premium SBCs for an even better upgrade.
In the past, FUT Birthday has kicked off towards the end of March, so you’ve got a couple of weeks to prepare for those potential Squad Builder Challenges.
