Happy birthday, Fortnite!
The hit video game is celebrating its first birthday in style with a new batch of challenges specifically unveiled for the milestone event.
Notably, the challenges will be open to all players of the popular video game, not just those with a Fortnite Battle Pass.
Fortnite has introduced three new special challenges to celebrate its milestone first birthday
The new birthday challenges are as follows:
- Play 14 matches
- Deal 1,000 damage to opposing players
- Dance in front of ten different birthday cakes
The challenges of playing 14 matches and dealing 1,000 damage to opponents are fairly simple and straightforward, though the challenge of dancing in front of ten birthday cakes is a bit more difficult, as it can be time-consuming to successfully locate all of the cakes on the map.
Fortunately, Forbes has just revealed the ten locations of the birthday cakes in-game. Specifically, they can be found in:
- Southeastern Retail Row
- Northern edge of Flush Factory
- South of Lazy Links close to a nearby road
- South of Risky Reels
- South of Loot Lake
- Next to Lonely Lodge
- Northern perimeter of Greasy Grove
- In the center of Fatal Fields
- East of Pleasant Park
- Northern part of Paradise Palms
Once players locate the birthday cakes on the map, they simply have to dance in front of all of them to complete the challenge. As locating and dancing in front of all ten birthday cakes can be time-consuming and risky in the face of hostile players performing the same challenge, its likely best to spread out completing the task over several games.
Completing each of the three new birthday challenges will reportedly unlock cosmetic items in battle royale mode as rewards for players, including a new birthday cake-themed skin, a new birthday-themed backpack and a new spray.
In addition, birthday cake slices are currently scattered across the Fortnite map, offering five shield points and five health points when located and consumed by players.
Epic Games has recently introduced additional content and game updates as well. The popular Playground Mode has returned for a limited time only and with several notable changes, including the ability to switch teams within the match. Gamers will also be able to drive golf carts in the game mode while ground loot will spawn additional items in comparison to the game’s popular battle royale mode.
Chests in Playground Mode will hold three weapons and additional items while Materials will also benefit from having their construction times lowered and being stronger overall. Rocket launchers, in addition, will now have a maximum ammo of 60.
Additionally, a new submachine gun that specializes in close-quarters combat has been added to the game while Slurp Juice has been temporarily disabled as Epic Games tinkers with its stats.
A new ‘spring by default’ option has also just been introduced into the game, allowing players to automatically sprint while playing. The former sprint button has now been turned into a button that allow characters to simply walk.
What is Fortnite?
Fortnite is an action-shooter video game that boasts 125 million players worldwide.
Developed and published by Epic Games, the game is currently available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS and iOS. An Android version is also reportedly under development and expected to be released soon.
The game’s phenomenally-popular battle royale mode, introduced in September 2017, has taken the video gaming world by storm in recent months.
Its main objective is to be the last man standing in a 100-player match that blends first-person shooter action with fortress building and survival elements.
The new birthday challenges, rewards and other recent updates certainly aren’t the only thing that Fortnite players have been treated to as of late. The game also introduced new shark-themed items in celebration of Shark Week, while its Summer Skirmish tournament is also underway, though its early stages were somewhat marred by unfounded accusations of cheating against the tournament’s first day winner.
